Councillor Mike Ennis was elected as Municipal Councillor for Polling District No. 12 at a special election on May 23, 2009. District 12 includes Lower Wolfville, Grand Pre, Hortonville, Avonport, Hants Border, Melanson, and Gaspereau. Mike's duties will include the Planning Advisory Committee, Police Advisory Board, Valley Regional Solid Waste, Police Review Sub Committee, and UNESCO.

He served for thirty-four years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and retired as the Detachment Commander at New Minas. Mike also spent six years as the manager of Protective Services with the Municipality of Kings and two years as the manager of operations in his son's security business.

Mike has resided in Kings County for approximately forty years and presently lives in Lower Wolfville. He has four children: Sean, Lisa, Scott, and Erica, all of whom live in the Kentville and Grand Pre areas.
