As required under the Provincial Municipal Service Exchange agreements, the Municipality
assumed maintenance of subdivision J Class roads constructed since April 1, 1995.
The Municipality is also responsible for the maintenance of selected sidewalks within
Kings County. Other sidewalks are maintained by their respective Towns and Villages.
Maintenance of these roads and sidewalks are contracted out locally every three
(3) years. As development continues Kings County will become responsible for maintaining
an increasing number of these roads.
Summer Maintenance of Kings County Roads
Kings County currently provides summer road maintenance services through contract
services. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal provides summer
maintenance to a number of J class roads for Kings County which are provided under
a separate service agreement.
Winter Maintenance of Kings County Roads
Kings County currently provides winter road maintenance services through contract

maintenance to a number of J class roads for Kings County which are provided under
a separate service agreement.
