Pre-authorized payment Plan (PAP)
PAP is a way to authorize the Municipality of Kings to automatically withdraw
payments from your bank account in order to pay your property taxes.
There are two types of PAP's:
Monthly PAP is designed as a budget plan to help you to build
up to the amount needed to pay the full bill on a monthly basis. For example, if
the estimated taxes for the year is $1,200, and you started paying $100/month in
October, this would allow the taxes to be paid out evenly throughout the year,
instead of having to pay the full interim and final bill. Please note that each
account needs to be calculated separately, and it is important that you are
contributing enough PAP each month so that in September when the final taxes are
due, there is enough to cover the taxes owing. Outstanding balances will be
charged at 1% interest at the end of the month. However, we now offer the option
of automatically adjusting your PAP amounts every year to match the increase in
property taxes so you don’t have to worry about overpaying or underpaying your
taxes.
Semi-annual PAP allows the municipality to withdraw the full
amount of the interim tax bill in May and final tax bill in September.
If you are interested in having a PAP set up with us, please fill out the
Application Form
here and mail it to us.
If you have any questions or would like to find out your current balance, please
contact the Finance Department at 690-6144.
